For your information, there are some incredible video mini forex signal software programs out in the market place to get you educated before you start making noobie mistakes.  There are also some software programs that will tempt you to take a 30 day trial. Most of these give you the option to try the software free for 30 days and if you don’t like it, you can cancel. However, canceling is not always so straightforward, so you should always make sure you read the small print before signing up for anything.

A free trial is always a good marketing technique to get you to buy software. But if you’re quite canny, you can sign up for various trials, learn some secrets, cancel the subscription and then you are on your way.

So what exactly is a Forex signal?  In essence, it is an instructional alert when to buy and when to sell a particular forex currency combination. Most software that generates such signals is pre-programmed and then user-configurable by you based on your trading strategy (once you have established one).  The forex signals actually alert you to make a decision based upon what you program it to do for you.

There is no such thing as a standard or universal forex signal.  It all depends on what you want it to do for you and the type of trading you are doing. This might sound simple, but actually it depends on what you are trying to achieve. For example, you could be a short term day trader or a long term trend follower. You could be a high risk taker or low risk trader.  You have a lot of options in the forex market, as you will discover once you start educating yourself in it.

It can be a lot of fun and yes you can lose money just like you can make money.  The purpose of the forex signal software it to give you a head start in making those trading decisions.

No matter what forex signal software you purchase, or if you take advantage of some free education, it will be well worth the trouble.

Foriegn exchange trading is all about putting your money into other country’s currencies, so you can gain the interest for the night or the difference in trading money all around. Forex trading does involve other assets along with money, but because you are investing in other countries and in other businesses that are dealing in other currencies the basis for the money you make or lose will be based on the trading of money.

Constant Trading is constantly done in the forex markets because of the time zones will vary and markets will open in one country while another is near closing. What happens in one market will effect on the other countries forex markets, but it is not always bad or good, sometimes the margins of trading are near each other.

The stock market involves buying shares of a company, you do that for one reason,waiting for a bigger return. In the forex markets, you are purchasing items or products, or goods, and you are paying money for them. As you do this, you are gaining or losing as the currency exchange differs daily from country to country. To better prepare you for the forex markets, there are many different types of websites that have free software to help you learn what you need to do and see your results without really losing any of your hard earned cash.

Signing up for any of these sites, by entering information in about what you’re interested in. You purchases and trades that will invole one country’s currency against another. You will see first hand your gains or loses will be. Doing so will help you see first hand how to make decisions to maximize you gains or reduce your loses. It’s important that you read regularly about the market changes or take the brokers at their word and play it from there.

Forex trading is more for the big boys, so if you want to get involved with it, you must go through a broker or a financial institution. Us traders are considered individuals and even though we are investing our money, it’s no where near the amount that is traded by government and banks. There a many regulations involved in forex trading, but that doesn’t mean that your money can’t be put in this type of investment vehicle.

Make sure you research which company you’re going to do business before you get involved.

The stock market has a set amount of hours that it’s open each day, typically Monday through Friday, during normal banking hours. Because of it being based in one country, it’s closed for holidays as well as the weekends. The foreign exchange is basically open twenty four hour a day except for about one day on the weekend. That’s because there is at least a few countries that are doing business at any given time.

When the foreign exchange started in the early 1970′s, it consisted of trading and selling currencies. Trading that takes place between two counties with different currencies is the basis for the forex market and the background of the trading in this market. There are trillions of dollars traded on a daily basis on the foreign exchange. The forex market involves governments, banks, financial institutions and those similar types of institutions from other countries.

What is bought and sold on the foreign exchange can be easily liquidated, that’s because that the equities are currencies. No matter what your position is in, it can be turned into your country’s currency rather quickly.

Forex is an area I am learning about and will start to invest in this year. As always, I’ll share my experiences here, both the positive and the negative.

For those who are not aware of what the foreign exchange is, it’s where the currency of the different countries are traded. The buying of one currency while simultaneously selling another. It’s the largest exchange in the world with the daily turnover exceeds $1 trillion. The pairing of two currencies are traded and valued against the other. A couple of examples are the US Dollar/Euro and the Japanese Yen/US Dollar. Most of the currency transactions will involve on of the major currencies (US Dollar, Euro, the British Pound, Swiss Franc, Canadian Dollar, Japanese Yen and the Australian Dollar.

The foreign exchange operates twenty-four hours a day through an electronic network of banks, corporations as well as individual traders. The exchange does not have a physical location where the trades are made like the other major exchanges do. The trading day for the FOREX starts in Sidney Austalia followed by Tokyo Japan and moves west around the world toward London, England and the New York. The big players in the FOREX are investment and commercial banks along with the exchanged traded futures and the registered futures commission merchants which consists of the ProEdgeFX. PorEdgeFX trading desk opens Sunday at 2:20pm EST and doesn’t close until Friday at 4:30pm EST.

The prices of the foreign exchange are influenced by the international trade flow as well as investment flows. In a lesser manner the exchange is also effected by the same things that influence the bond markets; economic and political conditions especially the interest rates, inflation and the stability of those countries. Since the impact is short lived, it gives investor the necessary diversification needed to protect against adverse movements in the equity and bond markets.

The exchange works in the same way the stock market works in regards to the bid/ask pricing and has the same type of spread between the two (bid/ask) just as equities do which is the cost of the transaction.

I have recently started play around in the FOREX as part of my investment strategy. I have taken it very slow in jumping in and making any big position in any of the currencies that are traded. I will say that I’ve learned quite a bit in the short time and will continue to educate myself about the foreign exchange world. As I learn more about FOREX I will share my knowledge and experiences with you, here at this site.

I’ve learned quite a lot and still have more to learn. As I increase my knowledge in investing, I will share it here, with you.

FOREX, which stands for the Foreign Exchange, is relatively new to me. Like everything else that I want to invest in, I make it a point to learn all that I can about the opportunities that are out there for us to trade, invest and profit in.

In this post I will list some of the key words and terms that are used when trading currencies. Don’t worry, none of the words or terms will force you to learn another language to understand them-lol. In no particular order I will list some of the basic ones for now and in a later post I will go continue with others. If you have any to add, feel free to leave them in a comment and I’ll add them in a later post.

Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)
The Commission is a United States agency that Congress set up in 1974. The duties of the commission is to monitor trades in commodities, futures as well as options for any fraudulent practices. They have the power to fine and/or suspend and companies or traders who are in breech of any trading laws.

Currency Pairs
All FOREX trades are based on the pairing of currencies. One currency is traded against another (i.e. the US dollar/Japanese Yen. You would see it listed as US/JPY 115.95. How you would read that is the base currency is the US dollar and for every dollar that is traded, you will receive 115.95 yen in return.

Point
The minimum change that a price can move. Often referred to as a pip (price interest point).

Majors
When a trader or investor refer to “The Majors” it’s refers to the more popular traded currencies like the US dollar, Euro, Japanese Yen, the British Pound, Canadian Dollar, Swiss Franc and the Australian Dollar.

Fundamental Analysis
A method that is used by brokers and traders to predict price movement within a stock. It involves key data like earnings, dividend payouts as well as risk evaluation.

Base Unit/Currency
This is the first currency quoted in a pair, it is used to measure profit or loss. An example is EUR/US 1.32, which means that for every one Euro it will be traded for $1.32 of US currency. The base unit will always have a value of 1.

Convertible Currency
A convertible currency is one that does not require authorization from a central bank in order to be traded freely against other currencies in the FOREX market.

European Monetary Union (EMU)
A union consisting of eleven European countries, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, France, Finland, the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Portugal, Spain and Ireland. The union is responsible for establishing the Euro which replaced the national currencies of the EMU members in 2002.

LIBOR
LIBOR is an Acronym which stands for London Interbank Offered Rate. They are the Federal Reserve funds rate of the UK. It refers to the interest rate that are charged by banks to other banks when exchanging monies.

Other pages include watching the top gainers and losers of the day, which stock have the highest amount of volume, viewing charts, news releases as well as seeing the latest financial report on any company that is traded in the U.S. markets.

One of my favorite options is setting up my own alerts on any stock or indicies that I want to keep close tabs on for when they will hit certain key technical levels.
